About Sarah

A calm, confidential space to talk openly

For Sarah Dewson, the Cayman Islands have long been home. Her family moved to Cayman in the mid-1980s, and after completing her secondary education on island, she went on to study Sociology in Canada.

Sarah’s interest in counselling began early in her career while working with young people in Cayman. Since then, her professional journey has taken her from the Cayman Islands to New Zealand, Ireland and the United Kingdom — giving her the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and at very different stages of life.

With more than two decades of counselling experience, she offers a gentle, confidential and person-centred approach to relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, major life changes and emotional wellbeing.

Couples Counselling

Couples counselling with a supportive, collaborative approach

Sarah has expanded her professional training to include couples counselling, completing a Diploma in Couples Counselling. She offers couples counselling at Cayman Medical alongside her individual counselling practice.

She works with couples experiencing communication difficulties, recurring conflict, loss of trust, affairs, intimacy concerns, separation or divorce, addiction-related relationship challenges and other pressures that can affect a relationship.

  • communication difficulties

  • loss of trust
  • affairs

Sarah’s role is not to decide who is “right” or “wrong”.

Instead, she helps both partners:

  • feel heard
  • understand patterns
  • communicate more constructively
  • explore healthier ways of relating

Couples counselling is tailored to the circumstances and needs of each couple and progresses at a pace appropriate for both partners.
